City of Cagayan de Oro

City of Cagayan de Oro

Cagayan de Oro City (CDO) is the capital city of Misamis Oriental and the gateway to Northern Mindanao. It is the largest city and the regional center in Northern Mindanao occupying 412 sq. km. It has a population of 602, 088, which one of the largest in Mindanao. Currently, the city is led by Mayor Oscar Moreno. The City gained its popularity as a tourist site, particularly for its white water rafting. Unfortunately, the city also suffered during typhoon Sendong where landslides and flooding, complicated by slow government response, caused a significant number of deaths and displacement

The City’s economy is largely based on industry, commerce, trade, services, and tourism. The now partly operational Laguidingan International Airport is a great boost to the city, opening its doors further to international tourism.
